Show Description

Over 15,000 Jewish children passed through Terezin, and only about a hundred were still alive when Terezin was liberated at the end of the war. These few then went back to the scattered pieces of their lives, their homes and families. Raja Englanderova lived through it all, entering Terezin as a terrified child of 11 years. She watched as everyone she knew disappeared into the trains, off to the death camps, never to be seen again. As she grew, she joined the efforts of a few adults teaching the children when there was nothing to teach with, helping to give them hope when there was little reason for hope. This is her story and the story of all the children who passed through Terezin.
