This lovely rhythmic piece is based on various selections from poems, prose, songs and plays of famed Newfoundland & Labrador writer Al Pittman. Chasing a Sound Like Rain, inspired by submissions of poetry, writing and images sent in from young people around the state of Tasmania, is a haunting tale set in the caves and forests around iconic Mole Creek. This lyrical and frank play explores the complexities of growing up on an Island, our search for identity and our connection to home.
While in Cow Head the 10 TNL students and 8 Tasmania students will participate in Stage Head Academy, a youth theatre intensive designed for teens considering a career in theatre and including classes in acting, directing, writing & technical theatre, under the leadership of TNL Artistic Associate Sara...h McDonald-Anderson and taught by the professional team of artists at the Festival. The Youth Theatre Island Exchange group will perform in Corner Brook on Aug. 9 & 10 and at the LSPU Hall in St. John's on Aug. 13th.
