The Gros Morne Theatre Festival is seeking resumes for the following production positions for its 2015 season:

Assistant Technicians (3 positions)

Carpenter/Scenic Painter (1 position)

Lighting & Sound Technician/In-House Lighting & Sound Designer (one position)

ASSISTANT TECHNICIANS (3 positions)

Experience Required:

all positions are open to university/college theatre stagecraft students

candidates for two of these positions must have attended university/college for the 2014-2015 calendar year and be planning to return to university/college for the 2015-2016 calendar year

candidates for the third of these positions can be a graduating university/college student, or be someone that has been working in theatre for 1-5 years after graduating university/college

candidates must have university and/or work experience in two to three of the following theatre disciplines

  • assistant stage management (basic ASM skills required)
  • wardrobe (will assist the wardrobe person when required; basic wardrobe skills required)
  • props (will assist the props person when required; basic props skills required)
  • carpentry (will assist the carpenter when required; good carpentry skills required; safe shop practices are essential)
  • scenic painting (will assist the lead scenic painter; basic scene painting skills required)
  • lighting (good lighting skills required; experience with consistent re-hang/re-focus is essential)
  • sound (good sound skills required; experience with SFX, Q-Lab, and Sound Forge software)
  • changeover and running crew (experience in a repertory theatre setting is an asset; experience running a lighting and sound board is essential (manual equipment, PC, MacBook, ETC controller); live sound mixing experience is essential

a valid driver’s license is an asset for all of these positions

Contract Dates:  May 11 to August 30, 2015 (16 weeks)

Salary:  $450.00/week (salary is based on a 40 hour work week)

approved overtime is paid as per Newfoundland Labour Standards (time and a half off in lieu with balance of overtime owing paid at end of contract)

The Gros Morne Theatre Festival is a summer repertory theatre festival operated by Theatre Newfoundland Labrador.  For its 2015 season, the Festival will produce seven productions – three on its Main Stage (two new productions, one revival production), three on its Second Stage (three revival productions), and a special production in commemoration of Memorial Day.  The Gros Morne Theatre Festival is located in the seaside community of Cow Head, Newfoundland and Labrador, which is situated in the spectacular Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Festival provides round trip travel (by most economical method) for successful applicants.

The Festival provides shared housing in the community for company members.  A housing rental fee and housing deposit apply.

CARPENTER/SCENIC PAINTER (one position)

Experience Required:

at least 1-2 years of experience as a Carpenter in professional theatre; strong carpentry skills and safe shop practices are essential

at least 1-2 years of experience as a Scenic Painter in professional theatre; strong scenic paint skills are essential

experience in a repertory theatre setting is an asset a valid driver’s license is required

LIGHTING AND SOUND TECHNICIAN/ IN-HOUSE LIGHTING AND SOUND DESIGNER  (one position)

Experience Required:

at least 1-2 years of experience in professional theatre as a lighting and sound technician

at least 1-2 years of experience in professional theatre as a lighting and sound designer (will be responsible for the lighting and sound coordination for revived productions (5), and the lighting and sound designs for new productions (2)

experience in a repertory theatre setting is an asset

strong skills in both lighting and sound; safe theatre practices are essential

experience with ETC controllers and manually run lighting boards

experience with SFX, Sound Forge and Q-Lab software; PC and Mac computers, and manual equipment, for sound applications; live mixing experience is essential

a valid driver’s license is an asset

a solid background in props building is required; solid props organizational and planning skills are essential

good scene painting skills are essential
