Memorial Day - July 1st
Memorial Day. Come join us on July 1st, at St. Mary's Church in Cow Head for a special service commemorating Memorial Day in Newfoundland and Labrador. It was July 1, 1916 that is one of the darkest days in Newfoundland history as over 700 soldiers went "over the top" at Beaumont Hamel, France as a part of the opening of the Battle of the Somme - only 78 answered the roll call next morning. This special hour long service marks that day and gives special attention to the men of the coast who served their country in all wars. FREE
