YOUTH THEATRE ISLAND EXCHANGE PROJECT

TNL Youth Theatre is excited and proud to announce a unique theatre exchange program which promotes and celebrates culture, theatrical education and youth.  In a unique exchange project, we have linked with Second Storey Youth Theatre in Tasmania.  Both groups are collaborating on this epic project that will allow a group of 18 rising young artists to develop, travel and perform original pieces while learning about one another's island homes and participating in workshops.  .

Members of the Youth Theatre Island Exchange Project are each creating a new theatre work that reflects their sense of Island culture and connection to home.

In 2011, each company is hosting the other in their respective communities for an amazing two week theatrical experience.  Beginning March 2011, TNL's Youth Theatre will travel to Tasmania and immerse themselves in their vibrant arts community.  During this time both groups will stage their original pieces in the internationally renowned 10 Days on the Island Festival.  In August SSYT will travel to Newfoundland where they will link with their TNL counterparts to participate in our Stage Head Academy and perform in the acclaimed Gros Morne Theatre Festival.

The Island Exchange Project draws on strong synergies that have been steadily developing between Tasmanian and Newfoundland artists, through the success of 'Tempting Providence'  artistic research residencies and other creative dialogue..
