Shane Ellis Coates

Playwright

At various times, Shane Ellis Coates has been a writer, an actor, a copy editor, and an operator of heavy logging equipment. Right now, he mostly teaches academic and technical writing to undergraduate university students. He has lived in three countries besides his own – South Korea, Turkey, and currently Kazakhstan – and has travelled to many more.  When he writes, he writes of home.

The Sinking of the S.S. Ethie (originally titled Ethie) is, to date, his only foray into playwriting.  It has played at the Gros Morne Theatre Festival every year since its inception in 1996.
