Playwright

Megan Gail Coles is a second-generation Canadian artist, academic and mother of mixed heritage from the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland/Ktaqmkuk. Her books include Squawk, Satched, Eating Habits of the Chronically Lonesome and Small Game Hunting at the Local Coward Gun Club. Her fiction has been a finalist for the Scotiabank Giller prize, a CBC Canada Reads contender and has twice won the BMO Winterset award. Megan has new fiction forthcoming from DoubleDay Canada Fall 2025. She is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Poverty Cove Theatre Company in St. John’s with multiple plays in various stages of development. Megan is a graduate of Memorial University, the National Theatre School of Canada, UBC and is currently pursuing a PhD in Humanities from Concordia. Megan is thrilled to be collaborating with TNL in her home region of NL.
