Artistic Associate (Youth and outreach) – FULL TIME POSITION

TNL, which offers one of eastern Canada’s leading youth theatre and youth outreach programs, is currently seeking an Artistic Associate to plan and implement the delivery of these programs in Corner Brook, Newfoundland & Labrador.

Besides teaching weekly classes for students age 6-18, the Artistic Associate will work closely with TNL’s Artistic Director & General Manager to conceptualize, plan and deliver various workshops and community engagement initiatives, all involving youth, which fit within the overall Artistic Mandate of TNL

Specific duties include

YOUTH THEATRE –

-Plan, manage, and oversee programming

-Instruct, and oversee instruction of, classes

-Promote Youth Theatre program and TNL

-Select , cast, produce and direct the end-of-year show or shows

-Manage and oversee related programs ie STAGE HEAD ACADEMY

-Maintain classroom space; secure materials and supplies; assemble reference material

OUTREACH –

-Nurture/encourage emerging artists through inclusion in Youth Theatre instruction

-Answer community/regional/provincial requests for workshops, talks, adjudications, advice and assistance etc.

-Encourage connection with community through performance, appearances and inclusion in events

-Promote the artistic happenings within the community by sharing information on performances, auditions, workshops and other theatre-related events

-Mentor/provide artistic support or advice to emerging artists and groups upon request

-Identify new opportunities for community engagement

 

The ideal candidate will have a theatre background with experience in teaching, directing and coordination.

Candidates are asked to provide a one-page artistic vision of youth theatre classes (include a basic outline for a 10-week youth theatre semester as well as thoughts behind those choices and the underlying outcome for the students) as well as an outline of community engagement projects, involving youth theatre students and outreach to other groups and youth groups of the community.
