From mid-July to mid-August TNL will bring the writings of Tom Finn from the page to the stage with sensitive and emotional story-telling with two of Corner Brook’s finest professional actors. The piece will charm both local and tourist audiences with its simplicity, honesty and revealing portraits of people and places in Corner Brook in the 1940s and 50s based on the writings of Corner Brook native Tom Finn. All characters and events in the stories are fictionalized but what’s very real are the settings, the environment and the nostalgic memories.
This new ‘story-telling’ piece of theatre will be performed at various venues throughout the city of Corner Brook – both indoors and out from July 19-Aug. 19, 2016.
Tom Finn was born and raised in Corner Brook. In 2010 his book of short stories entitled Westsiders was published by Petra Books. The Westsiders reach to the very heart of Corner Brook in the 40s and 50’s and TNL is thrilled to be sharing some of those stories with Corner Brookers and visitors during the summer as part of the city’s 60th anniversary celebrations.
This show is part of the Gros Morne Theatre Festival. See Getting to Cow Head for directions to the Warehouse Theatre and Shallow Bay Motel.
