Designed for students aged 16 – 18 years who may be considering a career in theatre, STAGE HEAD ACADEMY is a two-week theatre intensive operating between Corner Brook and the beautiful community of Cow Head. Students begin in Cow Head where they will take  instruction from Company members of the Gros Morne while attending the GMTF productions and beginning rehearsals for their own end-of-program show.   They then move to Corner Brook where they will be housed at Grenfell Campus – Memorial University Residence. Instructors from Grenfell and the professional field will present workshops and rehearsals will continue.  On the last day, students present their own show.

The Curriculum will include classes on various acting techniques and introduction to the technical aspects of theatre.  Likely workshops will be in playwriting, acting, stagecraft, movement, character, and scene study etc.

Students will follow the typical summer-stock work week ie Tuesday – Sunday.  Days will be filled with classes, taking in shows, and rehearsals of their own end-of-project performance. The program begins with a gathering in Cow Head on July 20th with a Meet-n-Greet and ends August 4th with the end of program production.

STAGE HEAD ACADEMY will wrap with a performance by the students. This end-of-program production will allow students to experience the fast-paced scheduling and intensive rehearsals involved in preparing a production for the Festival.  Students will be cast in roles based upon an audition process.
